It's Never Too Late to Lift

I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years and a competitive powerlifter for 8 of those years. In all that time, what has inspired me the most, is seeing people pursue things they once thought was never possible, or was even on their radar! The people that inspire the most, are not World Record holders (but they do inspire me!) but they are the people that break down stereotypes and show the world, and themselves, what is possible.

Love pizza? But need to find an alternative to the doughy variety? I really love this cauliflower pizza recipe. The base is simple and easy to make and you can change the toppings to suit your appetite!

Cauliflower "Potato" Salad Recipe

I was recently searching for some new salad recipes and came across this one, which I just had to try! This recipe is a great healthy alternative to a creamy potato salad. I tried it and now it is something I make regularly as a side to some protein. It will be a great salad to take to BBQ's, with the Australian summer just around the corner!

The Non-Cheesecake, Cheesecake Recipe

I run a 12-week challenge a couple of times each year. Not some kind of fast track weight loss challenge, instead it is a program that focuses on good nutrition. Food is the one area that many people struggle with and in this program participants are guided through a framework of how to make food work for them, for life - to aid in weight loss, weight maintenance (even weight gain where needed), fitness and for strength.

Lifting weights for hours each day is pretty easy for me. Not easy in terms of actually doing it (sometimes it takes my whole physical and mental strength to get the work done) but in just getting myself in to the gym to do my session. I never give myself the option of not doing it, it just doesn't enter my mind. I enjoy lifting. But doing anything cardio related, that is a whole other story!

Prehab: Staying Mobile and Injury Free

The word 'prehab' may sound like something reserved only for athletes, but it's actually something everyone should be doing - regardless of your training goals or fitness levels. To me, prehab incorporates stretching, foam rolling, trigger point work (such as lying on a cricket ball), physio and massage, all for the purpose of preventing injuries and the need for rehabilitation.

Healthy Fast Food in the USA - Eating Well Whilst Travelling

I have just come back from a wonderful month long holiday in the USA. Whilst overseas I was committed to maintaining my powerlifting training, as well as eating well. Many of you will know that going on a holiday generally means your normal routine gets thrown out the window. Suddenly you don't have a kitchen or fridge, or you're constantly eating on the run, which can mean a healthy diet can suffer.
