The Non-Cheesecake, Cheesecake Recipe

I run a 12-week challenge a couple of times each year. Not some kind of fast track weight loss challenge, instead it is a program that focuses on good nutrition. Food is the one area that many people struggle with and in this program participants are guided through a framework of how to make food work for them, for life - to aid in weight loss, weight maintenance (even weight gain where needed), fitness and for strength.

Dumbbell Workout

I've posted a few workout ideas over the years and this year I plan to do more, to help the people out there who need workout ideas, especially sessions you can do at home, with minimal equipment. The workout below will just require you to have two dumbbells. The ability to interchange the weights to suit the different exercises would be great, but not necessary if you don't have them available. If you feel like an exercise is a little too easy with the dumbbells you have, increase the repetitions you do. If the weight is too heavy, decrease the repetitions.

This post is a little late, but I thought I would still share the videos of my final comp of 2015. It was a local level competition in Sydney, run by John Tran at City Strength. It was a well run competition where I was able to lift alongside my good friend Liz Craven and be coached on the day by a great platform coach, and another friend, John Paul (JP) Cauchi as well as have my parents in the crowd.

Every December I put together a list of my top 10 workout songs that were released during the year. These are songs I either listen to in a training session, in competition, or on the way to the gym. I use music as a tool to get me in the right head space, whether to make me feel more confident or just to give me some positive vibes.

Surviving the Festive Season

We have officially hit the festive season! For many, the Christmas period is a time filled with parties and other social gatherings, which often involve lots of food and alcohol, including Christmas Day itself! It's not surprising then, that research shows that weight gain over the festive season is a major contributor to excess yearly weight gain, especially for people who are already carrying more weight than they would like.
